The balance of power and heat Here is the thing about that 80W/cm rating: it’s all about how the power is spread out. We use high-pressure mercury vapor to create a broad spectrum of UV light. The goal? Getting your ink to its gel point the second it passes under the lamp. But you have to watch your line speed. If you let the fabric linger too long under that much intensity, the print can get brittle. It’s a bit of a dance—find the right speed, and you’re golden. The gear inside We don’t skimp on the materials. The lamp envelope is made from high-purity fused quartz. Why? Because it lets the UV rays through without soaking them up. Inside, we dose the mercury vapor exactly right so the light stays consistent until the lamp finally wears out. These things get incredibly hot, so the quartz is designed to handle the constant heating and cooling without cracking. A few things to keep in mind Just a heads-up: these aren’t exactly “plug and play.” Along with the UV light, these lamps throw off a massive amount of infrared heat. If you don’t have a solid cooling plan—whether that’s forced air or water-cooled jackets—your fabric is going to overheat. Plus, if the heat has nowhere to go, it’ll stress the quartz and kill the lamp way sooner than it should. One last tip: keep an eye on your ballast settings. You want a stable arc.
