Technical Deep-Dive: Power, Voltage, and Dimensions
We built these UVC germicidal tubes around the T5 and T8 lamp standards. That means you can slip them right into the fixtures you already have. No hassle. No re-engineering. The whole point is simple: produce shortwave UV at 253.7nm to knock out microbes. To get that output, the tubes run on high voltage—around 400V. That keeps the arc stable the moment it sparks, so it runs steady and reliable. The T5/T8 shape is intentionally compact. It packs a lot of surface area into a short length, so you get concentrated UV power even in tight spots.
Material and Design: Quartz, Coatings, and Connectors
We wrap the tubes in fused quartz because it lets shortwave UV through far better than regular glass. That’s the difference that matters when you need real disinfection power. On the outside, we add a UVC-grade coating. It keeps ozone in check and helps the lamp hold steady output, even when it heats up and cools down over and over. Inside, the gas fill and filament are tuned for a quick warm-up and a consistent arc. That means fewer hot spots, and a longer tube life. For the ends, we use R7s or Sk15 bi-pin connectors. You wire them straight into linear fixtures, quickly, without needing extra adapters.
Application and Benefits
These tubes shine where you need intense, focused UVC—air and surface disinfection, water treatment chambers, and process equipment that has to fit in a small footprint. Because they’re T5/T8, they stay small mechanically. And the quartz envelope handles the thermal shock of frequent on/off cycles without blinking. Here’s the part to keep in mind: the power is dense, and the output is shortwave. That means you need proper shielding and enough cooling in the enclosure. Do that, and you keep the lamp cool, stable, and doing its job.
